During October 6th - 12th,“Fire Prevention Week,” we introduced a new GREAT project:

Fire Safety & Prevention Community Connectors: building relationships, resilience, fire safety, and fire prevention, to keep neighbors here in Germantown, and to prevent loss of homes!

Sign-up for this project has now ended and we have 7 Germantown residents getting started now.

  • Meets once per month from November 2024 thru February 2025

  • 6-8 Germantown people plus our facilitator- Blew Kind, and a representative from GREAT’s Emergency Preparedness Committee

  • Each “Community Connector” works on a project with neighbors on their block or in their building, over the course of the November-February timeline

  • Projects are focused on fire prevention / safety / preparedness

  • Each Community Connector chooses what their project is-- for example: help folks sign up for free smoke detectors through 311, or organize a fire drill

  • Monthly meetings are a space for support, feedback, sharing challenges and ideas

  • One-on-one support from Blew is available in between meetings

  • We can offer you $100 per month as a stipend for your participation
